The Mississippi Farm to School Network is thrilled to celebrate National Farm to School Month this October and Mississippi Farm to School Week, October 5–9, 2026! Each year, we invite schools, districts, early childhood centers, and other programs across Mississippi to jump into farm to school through our Mississippi Farm to School Week Challenge.
This year, we’re making it easier than ever to participate! Instead of choosing from multiple tracks, there’s just one challenge and three ways to take part: Grow, Taste, or Get to Know Farm to School. Whether you’re planting something, trying a Mississippi-grown food, or learning more about local farmers and food systems, there’s a place for everyone in this year’s celebration.
Grow Farm to School: Plant or do an activity in the garden
Taste Farm to School: Serve a local item on the menu or do a taste-test with a local item
Get to Know Farm to School: Do an education lesson, host a farmer, or visit a farm
Sites that sign up for the challenge will receive access to the Farm to School Week Resource & Activity Guide, Harvest of the Month resources for October, a virtual certificate, and have the opportunity to participate in the Farm to School Week Recognition awards.

In addition to the Challenge, we will also be celebrating Farm to School Week in person on Saturday, October 10th in Jackson, MS, at Foot Print Farms. This event is open to all ages, families, and communities. Registration is required, read more and sign up here.
