The Mississippi Department of Education (MDE) Office of Child Nutrition invites you to participate in the 2026 MDE Annual Farm to School Conference, held September 28–29, 2026, at the Mill at MSU in Starkville, Mississippi.
This conference brings together child nutrition professionals, educators, Child and Adult Care Program organizations, and community partners to promote the use of locally sourced foods in USDA meal programs. Through interactive sessions, hands-on activities, and collaborative discussions, participants will gain practical strategies for incorporating farm-to-school practices, strengthening local partnerships, and enhancing student access to fresh, nutritious foods.
The 2026 theme, “Rooted in Mississippi: Growing Healthy Futures Together,” brings together key partners to strengthen and expand farm-to-school efforts across the state.
The 2026 MDE Annual Farm to School Conference is an opportunity to connect, learn, and grow alongside professionals and partners who share a commitment to strengthening Mississippi’s local food systems and improving the school meal experience for students.
Farm to School is more than bringing locally grown food to the cafeteria. It is about connecting Mississippi students to the food they eat, the people who grow it, and the communities that make it possible. Important Conference Information from MDE
Hotel Accommodations: The Mississippi Department of Education – Office of Child Nutrition will not have a block of hotel rooms reserved for the 2026 MDE Farm to School Annual Conference. Participants are responsible for making their own lodging arrangements.
Meals & Refreshments: Meals will not be provided as part of the conference. Participants should plan accordingly for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Beverages and light snacks will be provided during scheduled breaks at the conference.
USDA Professional Standards Training Hours: Participants who fully participate in the conference may receive up to eight (8) hours of USDA Professional Standards training hours. Training hours will be awarded based on full participation and completion of the conference requirements.
