Are you passionate about youth leadership, local food systems, and building healthier communities across Mississippi? Mississippi Farm to School Network (MSFSN) is excited to offer two paid, remote internship opportunities for 2026: Youth Programs & Planning Internship and Farm to Early Care & Education (Farm to ECE) Internship.
These opportunities are designed for students, recent graduates, and advocates ready to gain hands-on experience in community organizing, local food systems, child nutrition, and youth program implementation while supporting communities across the state. Each internship runs for 5 months (March-July), requires 25–30 hours per month, and provides a $500 monthly stipend. Interns must live in Mississippi and successfully complete a pre-employment background check. Resume and cover letter must be submitted by February 15.

Youth Programs & Planning Internship
The 2026 Youth Programs & Planning internship is perfect for a recent college graduate, current student, community food systems, and child nutrition advocate. You’ll gain valuable experience, leadership, and facilitation skills that will increase employment opportunities i.e., proficiency in community organizing, team development, and youth program implementation.
The Youth Programs & Planning intern will be part of our Programs Team, focused on the Youth Leadership Cohort. We invite K-12 students to participate in the inspirational initiative, which aims to foster leadership, advocacy, and a connection to sustainable food systems, encouraging students to promote local, nutritious foods, and strengthen our agricultural economy. The intern will be responsible for helping with content creation, community projects, program planning, and coalition facilitation. Ultimately, the youth programs & planning intership with help Mississippi Farm to School Network expand our network and streamline new and innovative programs centered on community health and equity. A monthly stipend will be issued.
Programs and Planning Intern Duties & Responsibilities:
Correspondence with statewide schools and local partners
Contribute innovative ideas and feedback for grant processing
Coordinate with Youth Leadership Cohort members to plan and implement community projects
Assist in developing agendas for Youth Leadership Chort Monthly Meet & Learn meetings
Conduct surveys with Youth Leadership Cohort members to evaluate the program
Help with planning and execution of in-person events hosted throughout the state and virtual webinars
Assist with outreach and promotional efforts, including social media
Minimum 25-30 Hours/month
Youth Programs & Planning Internship Requirements:
General understanding of Mississippi’s local landscape and challenges facing Mississippians in various food system sectors.
General computer skills with experience using Google and/or Microsoft Suite
Time management skills
Teamwork and Communication Skills
Attend meetings with an open mind and a willingness to learn
Candidates are required to complete a pre-employment background check prior to their official start date.

Farm to Early Care & Education (Farm to ECE) Internship
The 2026 Farm to Early Care & Education (Farm to ECE) internship is perfect for a recent college graduate, current student, or a community food systems or child nutrition advocate. You’ll gain valuable experience including non-profit leadership and facilitation skills that will increase employment opportunities i.e., proficiency in community organizing, team development, and program implementation.
The Farm to ECE intern will be part of our Farm to ECE team. The Farm to Early Care and Education (ECE) movement endeavors to increase access to healthy, locally-grown foods, gardening opportunities, food-based activities, and nutrition and agricultural education in preschools, child care centers, family child care homes, Head Start/Early Head Start, and other ECE programs. The goals of our Farm to ECE program are to:
Promote health and wellness
Expand fresh and local food access
Offer hands-on experiential learning for young children
Encourage family engagement
Provide additional economic opportunities for farmers
Build community connections
At Mississippi Farm to School Network, our team works to help ECE programs get their Farm to ECE programs off the ground and create connections between ECE leaders and local farmers. With our Farm to ECE team, the intern will support content creation for social media, community projects across the state, program planning and implementation, and coalition facilitation and communication. Ultimately, the Farm to ECE internship will help MSFSN deepen our impact, expand our network, and streamline new and innovative programs centered on increasing Farm to ECE participation in early childcare settings across the state. A monthly stipend will be issued.
Farm to ECE Intern Duties and Responsibilities:
Correspondence with statewide childcare programs, ECE providers, and local & national partners
Contribute innovative ideas and feedback for grant processing
Coordinate with Farm to ECE Coalition members to keep track of goals, progress, and outcomes
Coordinate with Mississippi Sprouts and Farm to ECE Institute program participants to monitor challenges and successes
Assist with in-person events such as: trainings for early childcare providers, school garden planting & activity days, family farmers markets, taste tests, and cooking classes
Coordinate with Physical Activity Learning Session (PALS) participants to remind them about upcoming trainings and communications surrounding the program
Help with planning and execution of in person events hosted throughout the state and virtual webinars
Assist with outreach and promotional efforts, including social media
